Dari catatan China kita belajar tentang diplomasi; dari India tentang kosmologi, dari Arab tentang spiritualitas, dan dari Eropa tentang ketangguhan politik.

Transformasi dari Raja menjadi Sultan merupakan bukti adaptasi peradaban Melayu Jambi terhadap arus besar sejarah dunia, menjadikan Jambi sebagai salah satu pusat peradaban Islam yang signifikan di Asia Tenggara (Ricklefs, 2001; Milner, 1982).
